History, Chronology & The Future

From The Rivers Spring

Winnipeg, the geographic center of the continent of North America, has always had a tradition of attracting the wanderers of the world. Vampires, Werewolves, Magi and others. But none of these, save perhaps the Magi, realize that this centre attracts not just peoples, but powers as well. The Fae alone realized this potential shortly after the return of the noble Sidhe houses to Concordia and quickly moved to inhabit this strange city that attracted not only supernatural beings, but the powers that drove all of them to it. Glamour and Banality raged war upon each other within the Perimeter Highway.

The Vampires ignored it, and were traped as others were drawn to it. The Mages tried to contain it by creating a giant ward, but it was broken. The Werewolves erected cairns to honour it, but they were thrown down. The Wraiths tried to focus it to reach the further shore, but oblivion took them instead. The Changelings were afraid of it for lack of understanding and fled to safer havens. Then came the floods and washed the rest all away.

Now, Vampires, Werewolves, Magi, Wraiths and Changelings all have felt a shift in the lay lines of power in the world, and are once again drawn to Winnipeg. Safe it seems, Glamour and Banality seem to have found peace.

The Duchy of Winnipeg is but a small part of The Kingdom of Northern Ice, which extends from the mortal demenses of North Western Ontario to British Columbia in Canada and includes all that is North, ruled by her Highness Titania, The Winter's Queen, and home to many of the other Kithain of Concordia. A fairly new court in the grand scheme of things and the long lives of the fae. Into this do you come, drawn by the lay lines of Glamour to Winnipeg, perhaps on a quest, perhaps without any forethought, perhaps in search of the true Glamour of old, before the Sundering and the Shattering. But you are here nonetheless, and must make the best of your situation. Maybe you can even make a name for yourself as the power struggle for titles and honours and favors from the Queen are sure to be many in the rebuilding of the Freeholds of the city, right? Well, we'll see...

The River Flows On And On

After the disappearance of High King David, many of the nobles felt their tenuous hold over the commoners of Concordia slipping. So is it any wonder that Queen Laurel ap Fiona, former monarch of the Kingdom of Northern Ice should go missing as well? Fortunately, if one is willing to call it fortune, Titania ap Gwydion was preparing for just such a chance, and is now Queen of the lands. Though some would like to spread rumors, the High Council of Concordia ruled any foul play by Titania out of the question, and she has been confirmed in her role. Being a neice of High King David probably had much to do with her ascention, considering such neices of the royal family receive full court training and are treated as princesses no less than High King David's daughter herself.

Having just come into power less than a year ago, Queen Titania has shown nothing but total competence to the other nobility under her, and none can fault her in the results she obtains, but the methods are often found to be lacking in good-nature and fairness. Nothing but success is acceptable to her, and those who fail are made example of.

The Duke of Winnipeg, Bronze Adage, however is a forgiving man, and a proven warrior of trollish decent. He faught at the tail end of the Concordance Wars, and has seen many fae fall to the edge of cold star iron. Duke Adage is a task master but knows when a person cannot complete a task, either through inability or impossibility, and is willing to reassign it without assigning blame. These days he is quite content to rest his sword arm and lead others in court instead of on the field of battle. Duke Adage also harbors fears that Titania is just biding her time before some scheme is released, and Titania is well aware that he thinks this, and the two perform a waltz of careful tounges when in each others presence, much to the delight of the commoners. Queen Titania would have revoked Duke Adage's title long ago if she did not need his abilities as a leader and stratagist against the Prodigals and Autumn People.

Two Rivers Run Through It

Some Fae have all the luck. With the division of Winnipeg into three Counties come the appointments of Title. The East County of Winnipeg (everything East of the Red River) is now the appointed lands of Count Jullian Ilmaron a Sidhe of House Dougal. The South-West County of Winnipeg (everything South of the Assinaboine and West of the Red River) is now the appointed lands of Count Roberto Mountea a Pooka of House Fiona. The North-West County of Winnipeg (everyting North of the Assinaboice and West of the Red River) is now the appointed lands of Countess Anne Lafayette a Sidhe of House Balor.

Your Motley has done well for itself however. Having rediscovered all the old Trods, including one which leads to the fabled Gates of Avalon, and completed many tests (whether known or not) for the Queen, your band of Kithain have been granted good favor. Oberon Solaris the Troll, having nearly bested the Queen's Champion at Pennons has been granted the title of Baron within the Duke's land. Skyler the Piskie has been taken under the tutilage as Squire of Sir George, a Knight of the Duke, and looks promising in the role.

With the discovery of Queen Titania's son, who was trapped in the body of a White Dragon, and his return to his original body, things look like they have calmed down and the Fae of Winnipeg can enjoy themselves. But there are still loose ends...

To The Far Shores Of The Sea

What lies ahead? Why was Queen Titania's son a dragon? Why did the Queen want the location of the Trod to Avalon so badly? Why did one of the Thallain attack Fayde the Sluagh? Are Puck and Jack really the same person? Is the panda-pooka lying, or does the Shadow Court actually exist and plan to attack Avalon? How many licks DOES it take to get to the center of a tootsie roll pop? So many questions, so few answers, are you willing to look? or scared to see the truth? What time is it? Who am I? Who cares? You're a changeling, you'll figure it out, right? ... Time will tell ...
